One of Ireland's foremost architects tells the story of how Irish church building responded to the liturgical changes initiated at Vatican II when a new understanding of liturgical action led to new requirements in liturgical space.

As the story unfolds it is richly illustrated - every page carries photographs (most in full colour) of churches and works of art, plus plans of buildings. A lengthy section devoted to the work of artists contains twenty-three colour pictures of work by artists such as Benedict Tutty, Imogen Stuart, Oisín Kelly, Ken Thompson, Phyllis Burke.
